Great Black Swamp is a Doom band based in Phoenix, Arizona. Founders Josh Hernandez (guitar) and Michael Lawrence (bass), Austin Carpenter (vocals), and Jake Ramirez (drums) formed Great Black Swamp with the vision of creating a new sound. To help achieve this vision, a music box to create “sounds of horror” was built. After a year of construction, the music box was completed and named, SwampTank. SwampTank creates soundscapes that invoke a sense of unease and anxiety similar to scoring from a horror movie. When applied to the band’s signature sound of heavy doom and “witchy” melodies it creates a sound that is truly unique.
